Joseph Pilates
The Pilates Method
The Pilates method (originally called ‘Contrology’) was developed in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates. His technique unites mind and body to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, overall health and a sense of well being.
The Pilates method is designed to restore balance to the body and develop efficiency in movement. The technique is particularly helpful in uncovering areas of imbalance in the body, working to correct this can help to prevent injury. Our classes focus on specific areas individually, whilst also using exercises that integrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum function.
